MANIMEKALA

Meet Me At The Mahal is a contemporary ode to the vibrancy of India, where life is drenched in full colour. The dusky desert skies of Rajasthan look down upon immense treasures: richly decorated palaces shimmer like mirages under the blinding heat of the sun. Nomadic desert camps indicate the path to faraway fairytale palaces where nawabs (kings) and begums (queens) once spent their days in raucous laughter and secret gardens. The animated dancing colours of the Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors) are captured on cloth as pulsating marbled prints. Imaginary dreamscapes of sand dunes merge with surreal alien flora and exploding atomic night skies.

This is a wearable collection of contemporary separates including signature blouses and breath-taking statement dresses. Manimekala’s designs are made in GOTS-certified organic cotton, complemented by vibrant silks, and digitally printed with certified Azo-free dyes, leading to minimal water waste.

This collection was made in collaboration with Saheli Women, a women’s social enterprise in rural Rajasthan, north India. Located in the village of Bhikamkor, Saheli Women employs 35 women, providing them with fair wages, health insurance, and a safe work environment free from discrimination. Additionally, Saheli’s parent charity, the Institute for Philanthropic and Humanitarian Development, sponsors the educations of the women’s daughters, runs a female health clinic, and educates the community about human rights, feminism, menstrual hygiene, health, and financial literacy.

Manimekala is proud to work with Saheli and to build women’s empowerment into the core of our brand. We do more than make beautiful clothes; we change lives.
